Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) assists in providing therapy programs for referred clients with developmental deficit; physical injury, illness, or disability; and injury prevention or health promotion under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) and in coordination with other health professionals. This position is primarily outpatient care and while specific tasks may vary, general responsibilities include:

  • Performing occupational therapy treatments, documenting services, and educating patients of all ages.

  • Directing patient participation according to the established plan of care and in accordance with clinical best practice guidelines and within the scope of OT practice to restore, reinforce, and enhance patient performance and function.

  • Should possess the skills to be adaptable to a dynamic team environment and open to the idea of developing, promoting, and performing new programs to facilitate rehabilitation.

  • Responsible for student supervision and delegation to support staff.


LOCATION: Medford, WI – Aspirus Medford Hospital & Clinics

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

Our ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

  • Graduation from an accredited university with successful completion (or pending completion) of National Board

  • Must be able to demonstrate appropriate clinical skills and abilities

  • Greater than or equal to one year of clinical experience desired


EDUCATION

Candidates should possess one or more of the following:

  • Associate’s degree in Applied Sciences from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program required

  • Must hold current BLS certification/CPR required

  • Licensed in or pending licensure in the state of Wisconsin by date of hire required
