Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our team in Meridian, Mississippi. This full-time position offers the opportunity to provide high-quality, patient-centered care while working in a collaborative and supportive environment. The COTA will assist the Occupational Therapist in implementing individualized treatment plans to help patients regain independence in daily activities and improve their overall quality of life.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Occupational Therapist in evaluating patients’ physical, cognitive, and psychosocial abilities.

  • Implement treatment plans designed by the supervising OT to improve patients’ performance in daily activities, including self-care, work, and leisure tasks.

  • Provide hands-on therapeutic interventions and modalities as directed by the OT.

  • Educate patients and caregivers on adaptive techniques, therapeutic exercises, and the use of assistive devices.

  • Document patient treatments, progress, and observations in the electronic medical record (EMR) according to facility standards.

  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team—including PT, SLP, physicians, and other healthcare providers—to support comprehensive patient care.

  • Follow ethical, legal, and facility guidelines regarding patient care, supervision requirements, and documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.

  • Current Mississippi COTA license or eligibility for licensure.

  • NBCOT certification (required or pending completion).

  • CPR certification (preferred).

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience in a clinical setting such as rehabilitation, geriatrics, pediatrics, or home health (preferred).

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with the supervising OT.

Work Environment:

  • Full-time position.

  • Potential work settings include hospitals, outpatient clinics, rehabilitation centers, skilled nursing facilities, or home health.
