Responsibilities of the Medical Technologist:

• Performs a variety of laboratory examinations and tests including specialized or experimental procedures assuring rapid and accurate results.
• Problem Solving and Decision-Making: Approaches problems using a methodical approach and analyzes information to make well thought-out decisions.
• Environment of Care Consciousness: Demonstrates awareness of best practices and promotes patient safety. Is compliant with Fire Safety, General Safety, Hazardous Materials and Wastes, Emergency Management, Medical Equipment, and Security and Utility Systems policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Able to use various types of machinery, lab equipment, and complex computer programs to perform the test.

Requirements of the Medical Technologist:

• Trained in an accredited MT program
• ASCP or AMT certification (must be eligible to obtain within 5 months of hire)
• Bachelors degree in Medical Lab Science (or equivalent)
