Job Responsibilities

As a Cytogenetic Technologist, you’ll contribute to essential diagnostic testing and laboratory operations, including:

• Performing sample setup, culturing, harvesting, slide preparation, and staining
• Conducting microscopic analysis, photography, karyotyping, and FISH analysis
• Ensuring integrity and accuracy of specimens throughout all processing phases
• Utilizing advanced staining techniques (Giemsa, Q-, R-, C-banding, NOR staining)
• Operating automated karyotyping equipment and assessing chromosomal mosaicism
• Managing quality control of lab equipment, incubators, and cryogenic storage systems
• Participating in validation studies for new test development and maintaining compliance with CAP and other regulatory standards
• Maintaining records, inventory, and assisting in orientation and training of new staff
• Staying current with research and advancements in cytogenetics
• Reporting any issues that may impact patient care and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in a Life Science or related field required
• Certification: CG (ASCP) certification or equivalent required
• Experience: At least 2 years of professional experience in cytogenetics preferred

Compensation & Benefits

• Competitive pay range: $32.45 – $48.70 per hour (based on experience)
