Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position) · Preparing cultures of tissue samples. · Establishing and monitoring programs that ensure data accuracy. · Microscopically examining slides of bodily fluids. · Cross-matching blood for transfusions. · Chemically analyzing blood or urine for toxic components. · Analyzing lab reports for accuracy. · Operating and calibrating equipment. · Delivering test results to physicians, researchers or patients. · Collecting and studying blood samples to determine morphology Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.) · Graduation from an accredited training program resulting in certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), Health and Human Services or American Medical Certification · Current BLS · Minimum of three (3) years’ experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: · As appropriate within established procedures, protocols and scope of practice, must have understanding of and ability to correctly utilize and/or apply; medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, psychology, pharmacology, medical ethics and legal concepts, clinical procedures, patient care; emergency medical treatment to include cardiopulmonary resuscitation, aseptic technique, specimen collection, diagnostic testing, prepare and administer oral and parenteral (excluding IV) medications, vaccination procedures, mechanisms of anaphylaxis and shock and their treatment; prescription drugs and their administration; operating and maintaining therapeutic equipment, risk management, medical contingency operations, computer operations in the use of basic word processing, data entry and automated medical records. · Possess experience with Microsoft programs. · Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
