Job Description

Summary: The Speech Language Pathologist will identify and treat communication problems related to language and speech as a result of a TBI. S/he will identify and treat cognitive problems related to TBI. Provides direct patient care to improve communication skills through vocal exercises and cognitive therapies. S/he is an active participant in the multidisciplinary TBI team. S/he will use written and oral tests, as well as special instruments, in the diagnose and treatment of speech related issues. S/he establishes individualized care plans tailored to each patient's needs. Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.) · Master's degree in speech-language pathology from a Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology accredited school. · Must maintain continuing education credit sufficient to maintain both clinical license and to meet medical facility specific Quality Assurance standards for credentialing. · A Minimum of three (3)years’ experience providing speech and language services to TBI patients required. · The Contractor Speech and Language Therapist must have and maintain a current license to practice speech and language therapy. · Must have and maintain a current license to practice in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands, or any US territory that allows for the independent practice of clinical services. This license must be current and unrestricted (not subject to restriction pertaining to the scope, location, or type of practice ordinarily granted to other applicants for similar licenses in granting jurisdiction). · Experience with military health systems as clinical leader preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: · Must have demonstrated leadership ability, organizational skills, group facilitation and multi-tasking abilities. · Must possess strong written, verbal and communication skills and public speaking ability.
