Psychometrist

Location: Camp Lejeune, NC (Marine Sailor Concussion Recover Center/TBI Clinic)

Excellent Pay, Great Benefits, PTO (8 Hrs PTO for every 80 Hrs worked)

Paid Federal Holidays

Work Schedule: M-F, 0700-1800, 8 Hr Shift (Typical work schedule 0730-1630)

Qualifications:

3.1.1. Three letters of recommendation written within the last two years attesting to the health care worker’s clinical skills. At least one letter must be from a physician, psychologist, or nurse who has personally observed and evaluated the health care worker and who can attest to the health care worker’s clinical competence in the care of patients. The other letters may be from a clinic or hospital administrator, physician, psychologist or nurse who has personal knowledge of the health care worker’s patient care skills in a similar clinical environment. Reference letters shall attest to the health care worker’s communication skills and ability to relate to patients as well as professional and other interpersonal skills among staff members and must include name, title, phone number, date of reference, address and signature of the individual providing reference.

AND

3.1.2. Possess one of the following qualifications:

Possess a current certification as a Psychometrist by the Board of Certified Psychometrists (BCP).

OR

3.1.2.2. Possess a Master's degree in Psychology, Sociology, or in a behavioral science related field and have 1 year experience in the performance of neuropsychological testing and test scoring within the preceding 24 months.

OR

3.1.2.3. Possess a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Sociology, or in a behavioral science related field and have three years of experience in the performance of neuropsychological testing and test scoring within the preceding 36 months.

Work Duties:

5.3.1. Technically direct, escort, and/or act as a therapeutic participant in patient activities both on and off the clinic.

5.3.2. Provide care for patients utilizing proper infection control and safety techniques as planned and/or ordered.

5.3.3. Document per clinic policy and notifies the neuropsychologist in charge of any abnormal or unusual findings in a timely manner.

5.3.4. Utilize therapeutic assessment and interview skills to elicit accurate and concise account of the patient's condition.

5.3.5. Document patient-care using proper terminology and in accordance with unit policy.

5.3.6. Utilize therapeutic assessment and interview skills to elicit accurate and concise account of the patient's condition.

5.3.7. Exhibit a basic knowledge of psychotropic medications including actions, side effects and common dosages.

5.3.8. Perform unit administrative activities as directed.

5.3.9. Use appropriate infection control and safety techniques as required including, but not limited to, good hand washing, wearing of protective gear, and good body mechanics.

5.3.10. Screen patients to determine presenting problems and priority of appointment. This may entail telephone triage or in-person evaluation. Perform basic assessment procedures, including initial screening evaluation and standardized neuropsychological testing. Assist credentialed providers with identifying mental health diagnosis and treatment strategies, as well as providing patient education.

5.3.11. Assist in providing specialized treatment and rehabilitation of brain injured and mental health patients. Observe, monitor, report, and record patient interaction during assessment sessions.

5.3.12. Institute precautionary measures to prevent patient injuries due-to suicide, homicide, or elopement.

5.3.13. Perform verbal and manual restraint and apply mechanical restraints as needed.

5.3.14. Coordinate with other base agencies and Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs) regarding specialized care, treatment, and administrative functions. Contact military or community agencies to obtain collateral information.

5.3.15. Explain and interpret neuropsychological services and procedures to access care to patients and commands. Assist in or arrange for patient referral to other facilities for alternate level of care.

5.3.16. Assist in administration of neuropsychological tests.
