Job Description

Job Summary:

  • Participate in the planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care programs designed to increase, maintain or restore function, minimize or prevent disability, and assist patients in reaching their maximum performance levels;
  • Serve as a consultant to physicians and allied health staff regarding physical therapy services throughout the District.
  • Responsible for the implementation and evaluation of standards of practice for the discipline of therapy in accordance with state regulation and physical therapists accreditation entities.
  • Provide information and training to patients, and/or family and caregiver as needed, and/or as part of discharge planning.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Possession of a degree in physical therapy from an accredited educational institute.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years of clinical experience in a diverse background specific to discipline; prefer one to two years experience in a rehabilitation setting.
  • Licensure / Certifications / Registrations
    • Current California Physical Therapist license.
    • Current BLS Healthcare Provider certification (CPR)
    • Valid California drivers license, with clean DMV record.
  • Essential Skills
    • Possess knowledge of principles and practices, concepts, and methodology of physical therapist work.
    • Possess knowledge of medical terminology, diagnoses, medications, and treatment plans.
    • Possess knowledge of pertinent State, Federal and local laws, rules, regulations relating to physical therapy services required in hospital and home health setting.
    • Ability to handle stressful situations in professional manner.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
    • Ability to recognize role as a consultant / facilitator to staff.
    • Knowledge of teaching.
    • Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
    • Ability to write legibly, spell correctly, and communicate effectively in oral and written forms.
    • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized and non-standardized situations.
    • Ability to operate modern office equipment.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective departmental and interdepartmental relationships with personnel, physicians, and patients and their families in varied settings
