We offer the following benefits: Health Benefits Competitive Pay PTO and Holidays REQUIREMENTS: Degree: Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) from a school or college of optometry accredited by the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education (ACOE) and approved by the Air Force Surgeon General in the year of the applicant’s graduation. License: Must have a permanent, full, and unrestricted therapeutic pharmaceutical agents (TPA) license to practice optometry in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia. Applicants must have 2 years of general TPA practice of optometry or one year of ACOE accredited post-graduate residency training in an appropriate specialty area. May require travel to attend and complete the USAF Refractive Surgery Co-Manager Workshop offered by the USAF School of Aerospace Medicine. The Government will direct travel to, and attendance in, the course. The optometrist shall have sufficient experience to be able to adequately perform optometric tasks, to include, but not limited to the following: Participate in the installation’s occupational vision program involving functions performed by the optometry clinic Perform a primary role in the visual readiness and optimization of active duty personnel for both war and peace mission accomplishment. Participate in squadron process improvement activities, evaluation of squadron performance, and optometric-related research and provide training to ophthalmic technicians, other optometrists, and other wing staff as appropriate.
