Job Description

Responsibilities:

Facilitate rehabilitation of patients with emotional, physical or mental disabilities
Monitor and assess patient rehabilitative programs
Convey treatment results and patient progress to relevant parties
Organize and update patient records
Maintain a clean and healthy environment
Qualifications:

Education: Possess a Bachelors, Masters, or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an Occupational Therapy program/institution accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).
Previous experience in occupational therapy or other related fields
Ability to build rapport with patients
Passion to help and motivate others
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Valid, unrestricted, license at least 1 state, territory or commonwealth of the US.
The candidate must also satisfy one (if not all) of the following three sub-specialty qualifications: (A) “Hand Therapy” and or (B) “Inpatient” or (C) "Neuro"
a. Hand Therapy
1. Possess the Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) credential through the Hand Therapy Certification
Commission (HTCC), and a minimum of 3 years of experience in the evaluation and treatment of upper
extremity musculoskeletal disorders.
2. Possess certification in Physical Agent Modalities (PAMs) as required by their state of licensure.
3. At least one reference from a supervising certified hand therapist or orthopedic hand surgeon.


b. Inpatient
1. Possess a minimum of 2 years experience in the evaluation and treatment of patients in an Inpatient
Rehabilitation setting.
2. Possess a minimum of 1 year experience in the evaluation and treatment of patients in an Inpatient acute
care setting.
3. Possess skill and experience in the education and issuance of adaptive equipment.


c. Neuro
1. Possess a minimum of 2 years experience in the evaluation and treatment of patients with neurologic
and/or brain injury diagnoses (eg. Cerebrovascular Accident, Traumatic Brain Injury, Brachial Plexus
Injury, Muscular Dystrophy, Multiple Sclerosis, etc.)
Location: Walter Reed Hosptial (WRNMMC)
