1. General job duties. Types of procedures required.
Generalist covering all departments(limited Microbiology) within the lab. Phlebotomy,specimen handling,QC,calibrating,instrument setup, and patient testing

Microbiology-gram stains,kit testing,specimen setup(plating),blood cultures
Blood Bank-Ortho Gel system
Coagulation-Stago Compact
Hematology-Sysmex 4000i XT
Chemistry-Roche Cobas 6000,Integra 400+,E411, and Radiometer ABL80Flex blood gas analyzers
Urinalysis-Siemen's Clinitek Advantus
Specimen Processing-Sorvall Legend RT and Thermo Scientific Heraeus Clinifuge centrifuges, along with kit testing


3. Required skills and minimum years of experience.
Proficient in all areas of the lab, including great blood drawing skills. Ability to work with all ages of patients and to work independently. Experience a definite plus.


4. Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required. (ARRT, CRT, BLS, ACLS, etc)
MT/MLT certified by ASCP,AMT,AD,CLT


5. Shift or schedule requirements. (Will the employee ever work alone? Is call required? If so, how often? Are weekends required?)
Sunday night-Thursday night(2230-0700). No weekends required. The individual would work alone from 2330-0530


6. Floating to other units/departments. (If so, to which units/departments?)

10. Tell us about the unit/department specific training and orientation program.
This would be dependent on experience but would attend a 2 day systemwide orientation and then train in the lab on days and midnights.


Additional Comments:

The midnight tech works independently and is responsible for the operations of the lab, from ER and Inpatient coverage, to instrument setup and calibration/Quality Control.
