Job Description

Our Psychologist provides a broad range of services to the facility, including evaluation and diagnosis, crisis intervention services, group and individual therapy, consultative services and training.



Conducts psychological evaluations on all committed persons referred for examination and/or treatment. Reports of these evaluations will follow IDOC format and guidelines.Prepares treatment plans on all committed persons requiring specialized therapy or counseling.Monitors and coordinates the provision of services by all treatment professionals.Provides individual and group therapy for committed persons identified through evaluation or referred by other mental health professionals.Administers, scores and interprets objective and projective psychological testing in appropriate cases.Serves as a member of the facility Crisis Intervention Team. This may include: Providing evaluations and brief therapy to committed persons identified as experiencing a psychological/emotional crisis. 24 hour, on-call status for consultation in crisis situations. Training of Crisis Intervention Team members. Maintaining required crisis intervention documentation and monitoring all delivery of service to committed persons on crisis status.Provides consultation to facility staff and administration on the treatment of specific committed persons or pertaining to broader institutional/program issues impacting mental health of staff and committed persons.On an emergency basis, provides evaluation of employees when serious questions arise concerning an employee's ability to safely carry out their duties due to suspected mental/emotional disturbance.Conducts staff training and development and assists in the design of treatment techniques, interventions and programs.Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance.Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations.Must be alert at all times; pay close attention to details.Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis.Post orders, if applicable, per site contract.Perform other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Ph.D. or Psych.D. degree in clinical psychology

Experience:

  • Previous corrections mental health experience preferred
  • Two (2) years post-degree clinical experience preferred

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Registered as a Psychologist by the State of Illinois
