(Archived) Animal Control Officer
Job Description
The Animal Control Officer shall be responsible for patrolling the Main Cantonment Area and West Fort Hood, including housing areas and will provide animal control operations.
Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Have a valid driver's license.
- Maintain current Texas State Animal Control Officer Basic Training Course certificates in accordance with Health and Safety Code, Title 10, Health and Safety of Animals, Chapter 829.
- Previous work experience in veterinary care preferred.
- Previous experience handling small animals preferred.
- Experience in animal welfare, shelter, or customer service preferred, but not required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Have basic computer knowledge and skills.
- Read, write and speak the English language
- Ability to keep up in a demanding fast-paced environment.
- A consistently cheerful and energetic disposition
- A clean, neat and well-groomed appearance.
- Ability to interact positively with our stray animals; dog behavior knowledge is a plus.
- Pro-active and the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Reliable attendance and punctuality. Willingness to pitch in where needed, as needed.
