JOB SUMMARY – Medical Lab Technician I:

Performs routine and emergency testing in assigned Laboratory section(s) under limited supervision or independently. Independent testing is on approval of section supervisors/pathologists.

QUALIFICATIONS – Medical Lab Technician I:

Associate degree in Medical Technology or a related science from an accredited college or university required; or successful completion of a Medical Laboratory Technician or Clinical Laboratory Assistant program and previous experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician required; or successful completion of a military medical laboratory program required.

One (1) year previous experience working in a hospital preferred.

Excellent communication skills required.

Experience working with computer based programs required.

Successful completion of LIS training and demonstrated proficiency at the end of training is required.

Must have ability to work well with physicians, laboratory staff, nurses, and data processing staff and outside agencies.

QUALIFICATIONS – Medical Lab Technician II:

Associate degree in Medical Technology or a related science from an accredited college or university required.

Must have clinical training in Hematology, Chemistry, Microbiology, and Blood Bank.

ASCP certification or equivalent certification required.

One (1) year previous experience working in a hospital preferred.

Satisfactory completion of LIS training and demonstrates proficiency at the end of training.

Must participate in Hepatitis-B vaccination program or sign waiver declining vaccine.

Must demonstrate patient-focused customer relations skills.

Shifts: Nights 9:00 pm - 6:00 am
