Cardiovascular Interventional Technologist - (Cardio - CI Tech - CVIT)
StartDate: ASAP Available Shifts: 8 D Pay Rate: $38.00 - 43.00

START DATE: 4/8/2019 for 13 weeks. SHIFT: Guarantee: 36 hours per week for twelve hour shifts, or 40 hours per week for eight to ten hour shifts. Guaranteed hours will not apply during orientation. REQUIRED: Identify steps in established procedures to provide technical assistance for selected diagnostic and interventional invasive procedures, which include supply, equipment operation, monitoring, imaging and use of medical devices. Use hemodynamic and ECG monitoring, including interpretation of data. Scrub assist for all diagnostic and interventional procedures including preparation of supplies and instruments, preparation and maintenance of the sterile field, preparation and manipulation of catheters, guide-wires and other devices. Injection of contrast media and medications from the sterile field as directed and supervised by the physician. Documentation of procedures and patient information according to hospital policy. Assist with inventory control as directed by the supervisor / manager. Support the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Other duties as assigned.Principle Job Duties• Demonstrates ability to use procedural equipment effectively and efficiently within four to six months of initial exposure to equipment. Provides high quality and engaged participation on a consistent basis. Processes and maintains accurate image filing/storage system. Operates all emergency equipment. Also see addendum. Assists with all procedures performed in the department, specifically, in the role of scrub assistant under the direct supervision of the procedural doctor.• Provides protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards. Responsible for personal radiation monitoring. Three primary means of eliminating or reducing radiation exposures - Time, Distance and Shielding. Always wears protective equipment and minimizes radiation exposure to the patient and self. Always wears radiation badge. Practices Universal Precautions to protect self, patient, and co-workers.• Planning/Development. Adheres to the objectives, policies and procedures as established by the department and patient care services division. Validates current knowledge of new and revised policies and procedures. Participates in planning, implementing, and evaluating guidelines/practices to ensure quality care and to provide effective, efficient department operation. Participates in development/achievement of unit goals. Accepts responsibility for professional communication and demonstrates effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills: Gathers accurate, complete information. Relays information clearly and concisely. Listens effectively and clarifies relevant data. Recognizes and complies with lines of authority and communication based on the organizational structure within the hospital. Demonstrates effective interpersonal relationships when dealing with all health care team members, patients,families, and guests. Sets priorities effectively.• Teaching/Learning. Satisfactorily completes the required cardiac Cath lab competency validations. ONE TIME: to be completed during orientation Arterial Line Monitoring/Sheath pulling, securing arterial and venous lines. Coronary Intervention Hemodynamics (Left and Right heart pressure monitoring) Suctioning/Trach care. Peripheral Vascular Disease. ANNUAL HIGH RISK/LOW FREQUENCYCardioversion/defibrillation* PacemakerIABPImpella*Indicates skill completed on opposite year if current in ACLS Maintains Healthcare Provider CPR. Attends 60% (minimal) of departmental in-services/meetings Maintains own education record. Participates in the orientation and learning process of new employees and students. Participates/cooperates with cross-training of staff to meet the needs of the patient, the department, and the organization. Performs as a committee member for continuing quality improvement. Answers questions for patients/families and explains procedures to be performed in order to facilitate care and alleviate anxiety.• Demonstrates awareness of cost containment principles via efficiency in performance.• Assists with general maintenance of rooms and equipment. Equipment checked prior to use and cleaned post procedure. Supplies restocked and ordering needs communicated to coordinator prior to shift end daily. General room clean-up immediately following procedure completion - always adhering to Universal Precautions guidelines.• Flexibility in adjusting schedule to meet department needs. Responds positively to necessary changes in the work schedule. Shares responsibility of overtime, on-call and necessary schedule changes with co-workers.• Other duties as assigned.Required Education, Experience, Licensure/Certification, and/or skills• Graduate of AMA Approved School in Radiography or Accredited Invasive Cardiovascular Specialist Program.• Registered by A.R.R.T./license by I.D.N.S. • Appropriate specialty certifications/credentials (RCIS or ARRT)• Current American Heart Association HealthCare Provider BLS CPR or approved equivalent (must include infant through adult, one and two-man rescuer, use of AED, and choking with hands-on CPR skills return demonstration, and must be pre-approved by Org Dev/Human Resources). • Two years of Interventional experience preferred, ideally in a critical care setting.Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure/Certification• Prefer Associate degree in Radiography/Specialized Training of one year.
