Job Description

Great opportunity in a one of the state's largest health care system for a contract CST. There is an opportunity to extend or work in other locations within the system.

Surgical Technologist-Contract Responsibilities

Collaborate with the RN and surgeon in a timely manner.

Set and maintain a sterile field/environment.

Act as a 3rd person in a case to assist with retraction or equipment.

Identify/verify the patient, the procedure and the surgical site.

Perform instrument, sponge, needle/sharp counts according to policy.

Assemble equipment and check for appropriate function before use on patient.

Inspect surgical packs, instrument tray wraps for integrity of wrap before opening to ensure sterile field.

Open sets and checks for biological indicators.

Participate in Q.A. monitoring activities related to surgical patients.

Provide for the care of equipment to support the surgical caseload daily.

Demonstrate skills in the selection and assembly of equipment for specific cases.

Decontaminate equipment following procedure.

Tag instruments which need to be replaced before sending to CSS.

Identify contaminated, damaged and missing items from instrumentation sets.

Perform flash sterilization using Flashpaks.

Use of washer/decontamination unit CSS/OR.

Sign all surgical counts on O.R. Record.

Note any patient charge item (equipment/supplies) on form for charge entry.

Documents items autoclaved in Autoclave logs. (Item, Temp, Time, Date, Patient I.D.)

Must have ORTHO experience


Surgical Technologist-Contract Requirements

Candidate must have at 2 years of OT experience in a level ll trauma unit with solid Ortho ExperienceSurgical Technologist

2+ Years experience in a Surgical Setting

Must have ORTHO experience

Completion of one year O.R. Tech program.
