Surgical Technologist job in Hampton Roads, VA.

The Surgical Technologist position is a civilian position providing services within the extensive military medical system, which provides services to active duty service members, military retirees, and their families. Civilian and military personnel work together in the hospitals and clinics. As a civilian healthcare provider, you will have a dedicated FSR Program Manager supporting you in addition to an office providing administrative support. Position contingent upon contract award. It is a wonderful opportunity to work in a fantastic medical system serving an inspiring patient population.

Surgical Technologist qualifications:

  • Certificate
  • Graduate from Surgical Technology Program accrediated by the CAAHEP or ABHES or formal military training program
  • Certified as a Surgical Technologist (CST) from NBSTSA or Tech-in-Surgery (TS-C) from NCCT or MOS certification as a surgical tech and/or Operating Room Tech
  • 1 year experience as a Surgical or Operating Room Technician


Surgical Technologist position overview

  • Perform the full spectrum of sterile techniques, setting up surgical trays, preparing and draping patients for surgery, and assisting with post-operative dressings.
  • Ensure surgical packs are cleaned and packed for sterilization after every procedure, to include restocking surgical supplies.
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment for the patient either by active participation in the cleaning of clinical spaces, operating rooms, and medical equipment, or by guiding other personnel in the environmental maintenance.
