Lead Central Sterile Processing Tech

We are seeking a talented and experienced Lead Central Processing Technician to join our Perioperative Services team. The primary role of the lead central processing technician is to clean, inspect, assemble, sterilize and store processed products used throughout the Health/HSS System. Other duties will consist of filling verbal and written requests for processing of manufactured sterile items in all patient care areas and playing the role of team leader for departmental operations. This individual will serve as a resource & role model for the staff.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrate the ability to plan & organize daily department operations using assigned staff to maximum cost effective productivity depending on work flow.
  • Maintain & post Error Rate & Productivity statistics in a timely manner.
  • Educate staff on new technology, instruments, or procedures in the CP Dept.
  • Complete Competency Assessment forms for all employees in a timely manner.
  • Serve as point person for customer issues/complaints; consulting Dept. Manager as needed.
  • Keep Dept. Manager informed of problems or issues with staff, customers, or vendors in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate the orientation of new employees in consultation with the Dept. Manager
  • Provide feedback to Manager for employee evaluations
  • Assist employees in preparation for Certification exams.

Required Experience

The ideal candidate must have:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 3-5 years of central processing experience, preferably within a hospital setting.
  • CSP certification required from an accredited institution
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English a necessity.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office preferred.
