Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) - Mental Health Job Overview:

  • Provide services for both inpatient and outpatient Mental Health Programs including Crisis Stabilization Program (CSP), Continuity of Psychiatric Care (CPC) Program and the Psychiatric Intensive Outpatient Program (PIOP).
  • Independently functions as the primary mental health therapist providing in-depth mental health diagnostic evaluation, assessment and evidenced based psychotherapy utilizing clinical practice guidelines and treatment modalities in both inpatient and outpatient settings dealing with acute, routine and chronic mental health conditions.
  • Provide training and/or technical direction as applicable
  • Perform limited administrative duties that include maintaining statistical records of the HCW's clinical workload, participating in education programs, and participating in clinical staff Performance Improvement Functions and Process Action Teams, as prescribed by the Commander.
  • Conduct comprehensive developmental, behavioral, educational/vocational, medical, psychiatric and/or psychosocial assessments to determine patient/family needs and resources (both family support and community support).
  • Provide counseling to patient and/or family in matters directly related to identify limitations, adjustment to psychiatric/behavioral condition and ongoing treatment. Develop and implement plan of treatment based upon clinical assessment of patient or family's diagnosis, current level of functioning, stated goals and necessity of support services.
  • Practice as an interdependent member of the health team and provide important components of primary health care through direct social work services, consultation, collaboration, referral, teaching, and advocacy.
  • Assess and treat outpatients in individual, group, couples, and family modalities exercising professional judgment and using a wide range of social work skills to include individual and family counseling to assist patients and their families in dealing with chronic and acute diseases/injuries.
  • Conduct psychosocial assessments to determine patient needs and resources (both family and community support). Provide counseling to patient and family in matters directly related to patient limitations, adjustment to medical condition, and ongoing treatment. Develop and implement discharge plans, follow-up care, and transfers to other health care facilities (e.g., nursing homes, rehabilitation hospitals, and Veterans Affairs (VA) facilities).
  • Plan and maintain referral and coordination services with civilian health and social service agencies to provide optimal patient care.
  • Provide consultation services to medical, nursing, and ancillary hospital staff regarding psychosocial issues, discharge plans, and follow-up care for patients and families.
  • Provide crisis intervention services.
  • Respond independently, and with various media, to appropriate military and community requests for lectures and presentations. Take the initiative in seeking out opportunities to present programs to meet the needs of service members and their families.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with community resources. Coordinate with teachers, lawyers, physicians, and representatives of their service disciplines for the benefit of the service member and families. Take initiative in identifying and assessing the needs of the military community, and organize responses to address those needs.

Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) - Mental Health Job Qualifications:

  • Gaduated from an MSW program accredited by the Council of Social Work Education (CSWE) with a clinical focus.
  • Licensure: active, current, unrestricted. Any U.S. state.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of full-time post-licensure experience as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker within the preceding four (4) years.

The two (2) qualifying years must have consisted of no less than eighty percent (80 %) of the clinicians practice time being spent in the provision of in-depth mental health diagnostic evaluations and evidenced based psychotherapy (i.e. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure (PE) Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), etc.).

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) AHA, ARC, or military emblem
  • Working knowledge of and experience working with the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders 5th edition, the International Classification of Diseases 10th edition & Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) manuals in correctly documenting mental health care, diagnosis and procedures performed.
