Respiratory Therapist Needed in NY!

*Full Time and Permanent Position*

Looking for a new Respiratory Therapist position at a one of the area's top hospitals? A well esteemed hospital in Central NY is looking for a Respiratory Therapist to join their team. It is a full time and permanent position!

Job Summary:

To assist the physician in the restoration of normal respiratory function in critically ill patients in accordance to established protocols and policies. The respiratory therapist is competent to provide services to patients from birth to adult geriatric.

Minimum Requirements:

Experience as a Respiratory Therapist prior to employment is desired.
New graduates considered.
Requires a broad knowledge of respiratory care procedures, respiratory equipment and patient evaluation using protocol systems.
Licensure/Certificates:
For Respiratory Therapist
Current NYS license as a Respiratory Therapist
BLS Basic Life Support (required within 6 months from date of hire)
ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support (required within 6 months from date of hire)
PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support (required within 6 months from date of hire)

Skills:
Requires the ability to provide high quality respiratory care service in the inpatient setting.
Possess computer skills such as Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
Ability to assess patient status and take appropriate action is required:
o Bronchodilator therapy via MDI. DPI, SVN
o Bronchial hygiene- vibratory PEP therapy, CPT
o Lung hyperinflation therapy-, IS, inexsufflation,
o Respiratory status including monitoring SpO2 and EtCO2 combined with clinical assessment
Demonstrates competency in required respiratory skills relevant to area of practice.
Ability to multi-task effectively in a rapidly changing environment.
Demonstrates good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work within protocol guidelines
Ability to organize, prioritize workload and work with minimal supervision.
Ability to provide invasive and non invasive support to the cardiopulmonary compromised patient.
Members of the Trauma, Code Blue, Rapid Response and Sepsis Rapid Response, Stoke, Heart Alert, and NALS Code Teams.
COPD readmission workgroup
Proficient and responsible for teach back of inhalation therapy education
Inspect, clean, test and maintain respiratory therapy equipment to ensure equipment is functioning safely and efficiently, ordering repairs when necessary
Educate patients and their families about their conditions and teach appropriate disease management techniques, such as breathing exercises and the use of medications and respiratory equipment.
