Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist Job Overview:

  • Serve as a pulmonary function testing technician performing a wide variety of clinical pulmonary physiologic tests in both outpatient and inpatients including, but not limited to spirometry, lung volume studies, diffusing capacity measurements, methacholine challenge tests, exercise inducedbronchoprovocation studies, six (6) minute walk tests, blood gases and pulmonary exercise tests.
  • Provide technical direction within the Pulmonary Function Testing lab, always meeting the standards of testing established by the American Thoracic Society.
  • Perform the administration of inhaled Pentamidine; perform occupational health screening to include: physical and lab work; and use the appropriate personal protection as stated in the NMCP Hazardous Drugs Safety Health Plan.
  • Systematically monitor effectiveness of practice through client database and outcomes evaluation. Synthesize and use the results of these evaluations to make or recommend changes including policy, procedure or protocol documentation

Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist Qualifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) as conferred by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Certification
  • 1 year of experience within the preceding three (3) years as a Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist.
  • Provide proof of professional development through continuing education within the last twenty four (24) months.

Position contingent on contract award with an anticipated Fall start date and award notice.
