I have a great client near Norwalk, CT actively hiring a permanent Respiratory Therapist .

Setting: Well-established 300-bed hospital

Shift: Days (7:30am-8pm), Nights (7pm-7:30am)

Patient population: All age groups

Compensation:

  • CRT: $35-46 /hour
  • RRT: $36-51 /hour
  • + $10,000-$20,000 sign-on bonus (depending on years of experience)

Summary: The Respiratory Therapist will work under medical supervision to assess, treat, and manage patients with cardiopulmonary issues, primarily in critical care and other hospital units. They will perform respiratory care procedures, operate and maintain equipment, keep patient records, and may occasionally take on charge responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Patient Evaluation & Therapy: Evaluates patients daily to ensure effective and appropriate therapy; makes clinical decisions based on assessments and chart reviews.
  • Clinical Competency: Administers respiratory treatments (e.g., oxygen, medications, chest physiotherapy, mechanical ventilation, arterial blood gases); recognizes and addresses adverse conditions.
  • Charge Duties & Staffing: Takes on charge responsibilities as needed, ensures minimum staffing, prioritizes and assigns workloads to optimize patient care and productivity.
  • Patient Education: Provides training and education to promote self-care and preventive measures post-discharge.
  • Documentation: Accurately documents clinical data in electronic medical records using hospital systems.
  • Equipment Proficiency: Operates, maintains, troubleshoots, and processes all respiratory care equipment; stays updated via department meetings.
  • Team Collaboration: Works collaboratively with the healthcare team; assists in procedures and fulfills related duties to maintain service quality.
  • Professional Conduct: Adheres to code of conduct, hospital service standards, and regulatory policies.
  • Continuing Education: Maintains clinical expertise through CEUs, seminars, and other educational opportunities; provides annual proof of CEUs.
