Job Summary

We are looking for individual to join our client’s team as NICU / PICU Registered Respiratory Therapist. You will perform respiratory therapy procedures per protocol and those ordered by physicians to improve the cardiopulmonary conditions of patients from newborn to geriatric ages.


Job Description

  • Perform comprehensive patient assessment and review of the patient's medical record to recommend and provide clinically indicated therapy.
  • Perform routine respiratory therapy procedures that include, but are not limited to, administration of oxygen by various modalities; equipment set up for the administration of aerosolized pharmaceuticals; administration of aerosol and heated humidification therapies and performance of various modalities of chest physiotherapy.
  • Initiate and maintain medical gas therapy including Oxygen, Heliox and Nitric Oxide.
  • Initiate, maintain, monitor, and adjust mechanical ventilators appropriately to ensure proper function and to ascertain therapeutic effectiveness.
  • Perform effective and atraumatic endotracheal and nasotracheal suction to maintain bronchopulmonary hygiene.
  • Perform procedures related to the care and maintenance of an airway.
  • Under medical supervision, assists with the insertion and removal of artificial airways as part of emergent or elective procedures.
  • Perform arterial puncture for the purpose of determining the arterial blood gas/ acid-base status.
  • Perform bedside and outpatient diagnostic procedures such as sputum induction and pulmonary function testing.
  • Set up, calibrate, and troubleshoot select invasive monitoring and therapeutic delivery devices.
  • Participate as a Response Team member.
  • Perform complete and accurate documentation within the patient medical record and for departmental reports and processes.
  • Identifies quality assurance issues and ensures adherence to established protocols and standards of care.
  • Provides in-service training related to the delivery of respiratory care.
  • Provides clinical supervision in specialty care areas as assigned.
  • Participates in product evaluation.
  • Participates in research activities related to respiratory care.


Skills Required

  • 2 years NICU and PICU Respiratory Therapist experience.
  • Servo U and Triology Machine Strongly preferred.
  • Highly preferred: Infant rescue transport experience PALS, BLS, ACLS, NRP


Education/Training/Certifications

  • Registration as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT issued by the (NBRC), Valid National Board of Respiratory Carelicense to practice as Respiratory Therapist issued by NYSED, BLS, Primary Source Verification required. ACLS, PALS, NRP for Intensive Care Nursery, Registered Pulmonary Function Tech certificate (RFPT) preferred.

  • Malpractice Insurance - All Clinical workers are required to have active individual medical malpractice. All copy must be provided prior to start of assignment. All clinical workers licensed by the state of NY are required to provide.
  • Shift Time: Night - 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
