(Archived) Radiology Technologist (Ultrasound)

Job Description

Come work with great people in beautiful Juneau, Alaska! We are seeking a certified RT to perform radiographic exams, including ultrasound. Collaborate with radiologists, providers, and other technologists to improve patient care.

  • Receives patient, explains procedure, and creates a safe environment for the patient through good communication skills.
  • Ultrasound. Performs independently diagnostic imaging using ARDMS protocols for the following exams: OB/GYN; abdomen; pelvic and endovaginal; small parts including breast, thyroid and scrotum; vascular, including DVT, arterial legs, carotids. Flexibility to perform other ultrasounds upon request of radiologist. Receives patients, explains procedures, and selects appropriate equipment to ensure good patient care.
  • Radiography. Performs diagnostic x-ray examinations including spine, extremities, head, chest and abdomen. Follows standard positions and views set by SEARHC. Receives patients, explains procedures and utilizes standardized techniques, settings and positions to accomplish acceptable results.
  • Office Duties. Performs office jobs in a small department including, but not limited to: answering phones, scheduling patients’ exams, printing reports, retrieving charts, researching problems, ordering supplies, copying and mailing exams to various facilities, and helping providers.

Education:

  • Associates degree with certification in diagnostic sonography.
  • Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound program preferred
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiographic program preferred

Experience:

  • 1 year Ultrasound experience
  • 1 year Radiography experience preferred

License and Certifications:

  • RDMS certified or registration eligible
  • ARRT certified preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge

  • Extensive knowledge of the anatomy and physiology used in standard ultrasound and radiographic exams.
  • Extensive knowledge of radiation physics and protection (ALARA).

Skills

  • Skilled at independently performing ultrasound.
  • Skilled in oral and written communication.
  • Skilled in organizing and cleaning work areas and maintaining equipment in serviceable condition.

Abilities


    • Able to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with radiologists, providers, patients, computer technologists, and SEARHC staff.
