(Archived) Pediatric Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer

Summary: The Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer will perform in-depth fetal, pediatric, and adult-congenital cardiac ultrasounds for the diagnosis and continuing evaluation of congenital heart disease using transthoracic echocardiography studies.

Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)

• Have successfully completed a subspecialty in Pediatric Echocardiography program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
• Possess a license, certification or registry from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), Pediatric Echocardiography (PE) or National Society of Cardiopulmonary Technicians (NSCT) certification.
• Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience within the last 5 years as an echocardiographer in a child and adolescent health care setting.
• Have successfully completed continuing medical education within the last 24 months.
• Provide two letters of recommendation written within the last two years attesting to clinical skills. At least one letter must be from a physician or nurse who has personally observed and evaluated the Health Care Worker (HCW) and who can attest to the HCW’s clinical skills in the care of patients. The other letter may be from a clinic or hospital administrator, physician or nurse who has personal knowledge of the HCW’s patient care skills in a similar clinical environment. Reference letters shall attest to the HCW’s communication skills and ability to relate to patients as well as professional and other interpersonal skills among staff members and must include name, title, phone number, date of reference, address and signature of the individual providing reference.
• Possess and maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
