A rural, coastal town in Alaska is seeking an HIM Director/Privacy Officer to plan, direct, and establish department goals, policies, procedures, and standards. This person must have RHIA or RHIT current certification. A robust salary, relocation assistance, and outstanding benefits are being offered!
Essential Functions
- Develops long-term and short-term goals for the HIMS department.
- Hires, develops, assigns work to, and evaluates HIMS staff members.
- Develops and maintains job descriptions and competencies for all HIMS staff categories.
- Develops departmental activities consistent with professional standards, legal/regulatory requirements, and institutional goals.
- Prepares budget actvities, secures approval, and monitors expenses for utilization purposes.
- Conducts HIMS performance improvement activities and participates in corporate quality initatives. Follows safety and infection control procedures.
- Ensures HIMS compliance and Joint Commission standards.
- Provides development guidance and assists with the maintenance of organization information privacy policies.
- Works with senior management and Compliance Officer to establish an organization-wide HIPAA/HITECH team.
- Performs initial and periodic privacy risk assessments and conducts ongoing compliance monitoring activites.
Qualifications
- RHIA or RHIT with current certification.
- Knowledge of privacy laws, access, and release of information.
- Knowledge of the principles of HIM, project management, and change management.
- Facilitation, communication, and presentation skills.
