Computed Tomography Technologist - (CT Tech)
StartDate: ASAP Available Shifts: 8/10/12 D/E/N Pay Rate: $33.00 - 38.00

SHIFT: This position will require an individual to work various shifts primarily first and second but there might be an occasional third shift.

Required Qualifications
ARRT Registered in Radiology and CT. MUST HAVE 2+ REFERENCES IN THE LAST 2 YEARS IN PROFILE IN ORDER TO BE SUBMITTED. Graduate of an approved school/program of Radiologic Technology. Must possess the skill to provide all the functions of radiographic procedures listed under "Essential Duties and Responsibilities." IL Department of Nuclear Safety License. (IEMA). Continuous direct contact with patients and family, radiologists, physicians, other staff technologists, and ancillary personnel to obtain and convey information. Prepares room, equipment, medicine, and materials as needed for patients. Cleans and disinfects Imaging room and equipment. Prepares and administers barium and other contrast material mixtures for X-rays. Prepares patient for imaging procedure; checks patient identification badge, explains procedures, transfers patient to table, positions patient, and assists patient at end of procedures. Uses AIDET to greet patients and or visitors. Verifying two identifiers prior to starting any exam. Reports the patient's self-report of pain to the RN promptly. If the patient is not able to self-report, reports symptoms of pain. Post-pones procedures until the patient's pain relief goal is reached, if possible. Follows prescribed techniques in administering general and specific X-rays (adjusts equipment; determines proper voltage, current and desired exposure time; arranges immobilization and support devices to obtain position of patient; adjusts lead shield; selects proper film). Follows prescribed techniques in administering Radiation imaging scans (arranges immobilization and support de-vices to obtain position of patient; selects proper protocols). Performs specialized scans such as CTA's and Biopsy procedures. Develops film in accordance with photographic techniques. Observes patient and machine during procedure; reports unusual occurrences and records patient's condition. Understands and follows department and hospital policies and procedures at all times. Maintains stock supplies and performs general office duties. Inspects emergency crash carts and maintains daily logs. Takes mobile X-ray unit to patient's room, ER, and OR. Prescribes ionizing radiation. Assists chief technician in maintaining procedure protocol. Transports patients. Performs quality control procedures on diagnostic imaging equipment. Has full knowledge of Radiant Module in EPIC HIS. Utilizes computer in the: order entry process for ancillary procedures and requisitions; charging of supplies; entering of physician orders or the patient profile; completing Technologist portion of Radiology Module for each exam performed. Regularly checks equipment, accessories and supplies; cleans and disinfects equipment after each use; reports all equipment malfunctions to supervisor immediately. Always demonstrates an awareness of radiation safety procedures for self and patient. Regularly practices aseptic techniques as necessary; strictly obeys isolation and infection control procedures. Always acts decisively and immediately in crucial situations; demonstrates an ability to remain calm and
Alert. Always observes hospital dress code; wears identification badge at all times while on duty. Always maintains confidentiality of all patient, hospital, or physician-related information. Completes and submits all incident reports (patient, visitor, staff) prior to the completion of each shift. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of safety policies and procedures; knows and uses proper body mechanics. Consistently demonstrates a thorough knowledge of human structure and function based on age, patient care, positioning, principles of radiographic exposure, quality assurance radiation physics, radiation protection and specialized techniques required for an Imaging technologist. Demonstrates the ability to determine priorities when multiple situations exist. Maintains current Illinois Emergency Management Agency license and certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist as required. Uses proper communication techniques when performing duties. Consistently is on-time and ready-to-work at the start of the assigned shift. Completes the assigned shift to include on-call status. Demonstrates a willingness and ability to assist others as requested; regularly assists in other areas of the department such as receptionist, clerical duties etc. Demonstrates a high degree of concentration despite frequent interruptions. Responds to changes in the work schedule as necessary; demonstrates flexibility in view of interruptions. Arranges time schedule in accordance with the needs of the unit. Performs duties in a cooperative and conscientious manner. Accepts reassignment to other units when necessary. Communicates honestly and ethically with others. Performs responsibilities safely and in cooperation with hospital efforts to improve patient/employee safety while reducing potential risks to all customers. Reports events which result in actual or potential risk to patients and others as required by hospital policy. Consistently follows the Hospital's HIPPA and Corporate Compliance policies and promptly reports any problems. Complies with the Exposure Control Plan as well as the guidelines for infection control and employee health. Consistently promotes positive/effective relationships. Demonstrates the ability to work effectively as a team member. Attends mandatory trainings including the annual Safety In-Service, as scheduled. Responsible for completing the Employee Opinion Survey. Becomes an active member of the team to develop action plan to include implementation and follow-up for concerns addressed from the survey.
