NEW Medical Physicist (PhD) – PET Imaging Research Opportunity
Full-Time | On-Site | Dayton, Ohio

An established healthcare and research organization in the Dayton area is seeking an experienced and research-driven PhD Medical Physicist to join its advanced imaging sciences team. This position offers the opportunity to lead and collaborate on innovative PET/CT imaging research, with a focus on pharmacokinetic modeling, quantitative imaging, and AI/ML applications aimed at improving clinical outcomes.

About the Role:
In this role, you’ll work closely with radiologists, nuclear medicine physicians, technologists, and data scientists to advance the use of PET imaging in clinical and translational research. You’ll develop and apply quantitative models, machine learning tools, and novel image analysis methods to enhance the accuracy and impact of molecular imaging.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support PET imaging research initiatives with clinical translation goals

  • Develop and implement pharmacokinetic and quantitative imaging models

  • Apply AI and machine learning techniques for PET/CT image reconstruction, segmentation, and outcome prediction

  • Collaborate on imaging protocol optimization and ensure adherence to radiation safety standards

  • Contribute to scientific publications, grants, and presentations at conferences

  • Mentor junior staff and foster a collaborative research culture

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Medical Physics, Biomedical Engineering, or related field

  • Demonstrated experience in PET imaging research and pharmacokinetic modeling

  • Strong programming skills (Python, MATLAB, or similar)

  • Hands-on experience with AI/ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.)

  • Knowledge of PET/CT system physics, calibration, and quantitative imaging techniques

  • Strong record of research productivity and scientific publications

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
