Interventional Radiology (IR) Tech

Summary Responsibilities:

- Performs routine and emergent interventional radiography procedures under the direction of the Interventional Radiologist, following department protocols for patients of all ages.
- Ensures safe radiation dosing for patients, including adhering to "image gently" practices and completing all required quality assurance tasks.
- Maintains a clean and safe workplace environment.
- Conducts routine and emergent interventional radiography examinations, including obtaining and documenting patient history, using the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), explaining procedures to patients, and obtaining consent.
- Demonstrates professional flexibility in handling on-call and rotational scheduling demands.
- Conducts a wide variety of interventional radiology procedures in sterile field environments as required by Radiologists.
- Practices safe radiation techniques in compliance with ARRA regulations and licensing restrictions, particularly in minimizing dose exposures for vulnerable patient groups.
- Applies theoretical knowledge to clinical situations, performs advanced skills, seeks consultation when needed, and adheres to departmental policies, procedures, and standards.
- Demonstrates fiscal responsibility by ensuring proper inventory control and prudent use of resources as directed by department leadership.
- Performs any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

- Associate Degree in Radiologic Science or completion of a qualifying Accredited Radiologic Technology Program.

Credentials:

- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) credential.
- Vascular Interventional Radiology (VI) credential.

Essential Certifications:

- American Heart Association certification for Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Certification from the Arizona Department of Health Services.
- Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
