Job Summary

We are looking for individual to join our client’s team as Radiation Therapist. You will ensure patient-centered quality care, optimal utilization of resources, service delivery and compliance with Hospital, health care setting, infection control and relevant regulatory policies, procedures, and standards of care for better outcomes and improved patient experience.


Job Description

  • Positions patient using proper immobilization devices.
  • Prepares treatment room and equipment for patients and helps ensure proper positioning of patients for treatment delivery.
  • Explains treatment procedures and demonstrates use of equipment to patients and/or family member(s) prior to treatment, effectively responding to questions and/or concerns. Explains how to manage radiation therapy side effect during treatment and recovery.
  • Delivers radiation therapy to patients, as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist and in accordance with radiation se measures and protocols, ensuring that safe amounts of radiation are administered, and that exposure is made only to prescribed areas. Maintains accurate and detailed records of all therapy sessions.
  • Observes patients during treatment for any signs of radiation reactions and reports changes in condition to the Radiation Oncologist or other appropriate personnel.
  • Operates radiation therapy equipment (e.g., linear accelerator, computed tomography (CT)/Simulator high dose rate (HOR) system) and assembles treatment devices.
  • Ensures proper operation and maintenance and quality assurance/performance of radiation therapy equipment, reports defects or deficiencies for adjustment and repair to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintains checks on charts, treatment times and doses, and assists Chief Radiation Therapist in review of patient charts and records for accuracy of treatment information; reports any discrepancies.
  • Coordinates patients' visits, aligning appointments with the treatment plan, to ensure effectiveness of treatments.
  • Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition; stocks and replenishes supplies, as needed.
  • Provides training to medical interns and residents, under the supervision of the Chief Radiation Therapist.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary health team conferences to assess patients' and families' needs; and assists with planning of patient care program.
  • Attends and/or participates in staff, departmental and interdisciplinary meetings, training, education, and quality assurance/performance improvement (QA/Pl) activities, as required.
  • Performs related work.


Skills Required

  • 1-year Radiation Therapy experience.


Education/Training/Certifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
  • Valid license as a radiation therapist issued by the NYDOH, Primary Source Verification required.
  • BLS preferred.


Additional Requirements

  • Adhere to company guidelines regarding COVID compliance.
  • Malpractice Insurance - All clinical workers are required to have active individual Medical Malpractice. A copy must be provided prior to start of assignment. All clinical workers licensed by the state of NY are required to provide.
  • Shift Time: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
