CT Tech

Job Description

Monday - Friday 10am - 6pm with Rotating Weekends.

The technologist provides a variety of CT procedures for the purpose of creating cross sectional images. He/She operates CT equipment, PACS (digital imaging), prepares patient room, equipment, supplies and medications, provides patient services using imaging modalities and performs procedures insuring compliance with organizational protocols and standards.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES/CRITICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Is able to apply knowledge of anatomy and physiology in obtaining adequate diagnostic exams.
  2. Demonstrates competency in the age specific standards as defined for the department/unit.
  3. Is able to recognize and respond appropriately to medical emergencies, has developed skills to practice in a safe clinical environment, knowledgeable CT safety and protection, has developed skills in contrast administration.
  4. Prepares all imaging exams for reading to include correct demographic identification and assures that diagnosis matches procedure for correct billing. Evaluates digital imaging for quality and accuracy of before releasing the patient.
  5. Checks patients identification, questions the patient to obtain a patient history or pre-existing condition.
  6. Always questions female patients regarding pregnancy. He/She documents all relevant information in synapse notes.
  7. Is able to keep the department running proficiently, regularly checks equipment, accessories and supplies,
  8. keeps area stocked at all times, cleans and disinfects equipment after each use; daily cleans exam room.
  9. Knows the role of a CT Technologist as a member of the health care team and is able to function as a
  10. competent and compassionate care giver.
  11. Maintains appropriate licensure, registration and continuing education requirements.
  12. Maintains clinical incomplete list
  13. Knowledge and function of Nighthawks

Required Skills

High School Diploma or GED required. The candidate graduated from an accredited Radiologic Technology Training Program approved by the American Medical Association. He/She maintains registry with the ARRT and current CPR certification required. Prefer candidate with 1 year experience in CT and Advanced Certification eligible.
