Clinical Psychologist Job Overview:

  • Design and conduct interdisciplinary educational programs in the areas of neuropsychological, cognitive and personality tests for Midshipmen, active duty, and active duty reserved population. Provide educational and training programs regarding the selection of psychological tests and aeromedical disposition of active duty personnel.
  • Adhere to institute policies that assure the confidentiality of patient communications. Provide for a multi-disciplinary approach to the treatment of patients, coordinating same with the appropriate institute departments.
  • Conduct neuropsychological evaluations. The HCW may conduct individual or group therapy sessions in accordance with generally accepted principles of the American Psychological Association, as may be required.
  • Provide input to the development of cognitive rehabilitation programs to assist with the treatment of patient with mild to moderate Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI).
  • Assess progress of patients and modify or extend treatment program accordingly. Coordinate care of patients with referring physicians.
  • Document therapy in accordance with standard institute policies and procedures on medical records.
  • Intervene as a crisis counselor in situations requiring immediate psychological treatment such as substance abuse, suicide attempts, psychotic episodes and other instances in accordance with standard institute policies.
  • Communicate with family members and significant others in order to further the effectiveness of patient treatment and progress.
  • Comply with established NHC Annapolis and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs and safety programs, environmental and infection control.
  • Provide unscheduled Specialty Procedures and Cases.
  • Participate in meetings to review and evaluate the care provided to patients, identify opportunities to improve the care delivered, and recommend corrective action when problems exist. Should a meeting occur outside of the regular working hours, the HCW shall be required to read and initial the minutes of the meeting.
  • Practice within the guidelines of their state licensing board, American Psychological Association Ethical Principles and Code of Conduct, and MTF privileges.
  • Conduct psychological evaluations utilizing information from clinical interviews, psychological testing, and collateral sources, as appropriate.
  • Establish psychiatric diagnoses according to the American Psychiatric Association Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Disorders.
  • Provide psychological treatment for individuals and groups; help medical and surgical patients deal with illnesses or injuries.
  • Assist in rehabilitation of patients.

Neuropsychologist Job Qualifications:

  • Experience: 2 years within the preceding 3 years as a Clinical Psychologist
  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Doctor of Psychology (PsyD).
  • Graduate from an APA accredited college or university with a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology.
  • APA Internship/Residency: Successful completion
  • Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a psychologist in any US state
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) by AHA
  • Completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Clinical Neuropsychological Evaluations
  • One year experience in adult clinical neuropsychology. Experience shall not be inclusive of the post-doctoral fellowship.
  • One year experience testing/interpreting results using Automated Neuropsychological Assessment Metrics (ANAMs) 4 or Mental Health Impact Assessment (IMPACT) systems.

Position contingent on contract award with an anticipated Fall start date.
