Psychometrist Job Overview:

  • Assigned to the Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury (PHTBI) Division within the Behavioral Health Department. The HCW shall provide services within the scope of their competencies and clinical privileges as granted by the Commanding Officer, and the applicable duties provided in the basic contract, and the following:
  • Administer and score standardized or experimental neuropsychological tests under the supervision of the designated government representative(s). Batteries of tests will assess a variety of domains including (but not limited to): cognitive functioning, attention and concentration skills, language functioning, verbal and visuo-spatial abilities, memory abilities, motor and sensory-motor integration, effort, executive functioning, and emotional status. A full neuropsychological evaluation often requires 6-8 hours to administer and score depending on the population and referral question.
  • Observe and record individuals' responses in the manner prescribed for each test; score tests for which objective and non-interpretative scales are available; prepare reports on individuals' behavior during testing, especially behavior which may affect test results; summarize case records; make appointments for testing of individuals or groups; keep records of testing supplies and equipment. Make notification to appropriate government personnel of requirements to maintain testing supplies.
  • Summarize standardized group and individual tests of psychological functioning; refer to the supervisor records of individuals' responses to tests requiring further professional evaluation, as required; and make recommendations to the supervisor regarding retesting or additional testing.

Psychometrist Job Qualifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Graduate from a formal program in Psychology, Sociology, or in a behavioral science related field from an accredited college or university
  • Certified by Board of Certified Psychometrists (BCP).
  • One year of full-time experience during the preceding three (3) years in the performance of psychological and/or neuropsychological testing and test scoring.

Position contingent on contract award with an anticipated Fall start date.
