Psychologist Job Overview:

  • Provide consultation, differential diagnosis, and treatment planning for all disorders defined by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders to adults, including but not limited to:
    • a. Organic mental disorders
    • b. Psychotic disorders
    • c. Schizophrenia
    • d. Delusional disorders
    • e. Mood disorders
    • f. Anxiety disorders
    • g. Somatoform disorders
    • h. Psychoactive substance use disorders
    • i. Sleep disorders
    • j. Factitious disorders
    • k. Impulse control disorders
    • l. Psychological factors affecting physical condition
    • m. Disorders usually first evident in infancy, childhood, or adolescence that manifest in an adult patient,
    • such as eating disorders and gender-identity disorders
    • n. Conditions not attributable to a mental disorder that are a focus of attention or treatment
    • o. Sexual disorders
    • p. Adjustment disorders
    • q. Personality disorders
    • r. Dissociative disorders
    • s. Post-traumatic stress syndrome
  • Provide diagnostic and therapeutic procedures (includes but not limited to):
    • a. Interviewing
    • b. Major types of psychotherapy including: short term, long term, psychodynamic, family, marital,
    • group, individual and behavioral therapy
    • c. Community outreach (e.g., health promotion and command consultation)
    • d. Mental status examination
    • e. Crisis intervention
    • f. Case management
    • g. Medical discharge planning
    • h. Psychosocial history taking
    • i. Psychological test administration and interpretation
  • Provide behavioral health care for all enrollees in the patient centered Medical Home Port (MHP) using evidenced-based interventions and Clinical Practice Guidelines where appropriate for treating behavioral health problems.

Psychologist Job Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Doctor of Psychology (PsyD)
  • Graduate from an APA accredited college or university in clinical or counseling psychology
  • APA accredited Internship: Successful completion
  • APA accredited Residency: completion of 1-year program
  • Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a psychologist in any U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) by American Heart Association (AHA) or BLS for American Red Cross
  • Two (2) years within the proceeding three (3) years as a Clinical Psychologist
