Job Description

Psychologist position in Shreveport, Louisiana.

The Psychologist position is a civilian position within the extensive military medical system. The position is based at an outpatient clinic.

Psychologist Position Overview:

  • Meet mental health clinic productivity requirements for direct patient care, with the expectation to have 5.5 hours of codable direct patient care scheduled per day, unless otherwise directed by the mental health flight commander.
  • Ability to work and communicate professionally as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team.
  • Attend training and meetings
  • Ability to effectively utilize electronic health record systems in support of the delivery of clinical care, completing required documentation within required time frames.
  • Provide clinical supervision to unlicensed credentialed providers as needed or when directed by supervisor or Mental Health Flight Commander.
  • Ability to provide walk-in triage and assessment services in addition to scheduled patient care as clinic demand indicates or when directed by supervisor or Mental Health Flight Commander.
  • Personal Reliability Program (PRP), Arming Use of Force (AUOF), Flight Medicine, Deployment Health, and Base Operational Medicine
  • [Register to View] 53516px;">Participates in military-specific training (e.g., use of the Air Force Guide for Suicide Risk Assessment, Management, and Treatment, pre-post deployment screening, PTSD, and combat stress, etc).

  • [Register to View] 53516px;">Contact referred patients to assess medication treatment adherence for depression, anxiety, and PTSD disorders.

Psychologist position Qualifications:

  • Licensure: any U.S. State. Active, unrestricted.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience within the past three years assessing and providing evidence-based individual counseling to patients within a mental health or health care facility.
  • At least 12 months of direct hands-on experience in the last 36 months with computer operations, basic word processing, data entry, and use of an automated medical record system.
  • Prefer those with recent experience (within the past three years) providing integrated behavioral health services within a primary care setting.
  • PhD or PsyD
  • Graduate from an APA accredited college or university in Clinical or Counseling Psychology
  • APA internship/residency
  • Computer Competency and 40 WPM
  • Certificate of Completion of Training on Cognitive Processing Therapy or Prolonged Exposure Therapy or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy.
  • Evidence Based Treatment modality to treat Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
