Clinical Psychologist

Location:Naval Health Clinic New England (NHCNE) Newport, RI. The primary site of service will be within a Medical Home Port Team within NHCNE Newport, RI.

Work Schedule: Clinical Psychologist Services are required for Monday through Friday, between the hours of 0730-1700 except for periods of vendor approved absences. The HCW shall provide services for an eight (8) hour compensated shift, with an uncompensated lunch break. Dependent on the needs of the clinic, this may allow for either a 30 minute or 60 minute uncompensated lunch break. In no instance shall the HCW exceed 80 hours per two (2) week period.

Minimum Qualifications:
 Degree: Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Doctor of Psychology (PsyD).
 Education: Graduate from an American Psychology Association accredited college or university with a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology.
 Internship/Residency: Successful completion from an internship in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association.
 Experience:

5.2.1.1.2.1. A one (1) year fellowship or residency in health psychology or behavioral medicine.

OR

5.2.1.1.2.2. One (1) year experience in the last three (3) years in the evaluation and treatment of patients who have pain, psychological factors affecting their physical condition, or difficulty coping with medical problems.

5.2.1.1.3. Provide two (2) letters of recommendation written within the last two (2) years attesting to the HCW’s clinical skills. At least one (1) letter must be from a physician or psychologist who has personally observed and evaluated the HCW and who can attest to the HCW’s clinical competence in the care of patients. The other letter may be from a clinic or hospital administrator, physician or nurse who has personal knowledge of the HCW’s patient care skills in a similar clinical environment. Reference letters shall attest to the HCW’s communication skills and ability to relate to patients as well as professional and other interpersonal skills among staff members and must include name, title, phone number, date of reference, address and signature of the individual providing reference.

 Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a psychologist in any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico or US Virgin Islands.

Core Duties:
 Practice within the guidelines of their state licensing board, American Psychological Association Ethical Principles and Code of Conduct, and MTF privileges.
 Conduct psychological evaluations utilizing information from clinical interviews, psychological testing, and collateral sources, as appropriate.
 Establish psychiatric diagnoses according to the American Psychiatric Association Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Disorders.
 Provide psychological treatment for individuals and groups; help medical and surgical patients deal with illnesses or injuries.
 Assist in rehabilitation of patients.
