SLEEP LAB – POLYSOMNOGRAPHIC TECHNICIAN – REGISTERED job opening in Kentucky!

-2 openings / shifts available:

*3 12 hour night shifts shifts

OR

*4 10 hour night shifts

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE – Perform basic and complex sleep studies on patients with possible sleep disorders and scores them. Also performs clerical procedures. Performs standard, sleep apnea studies, , sleep clinic, and MSLT studies. Assists Medical Director; transports patients; has working knowledge of computer for ordering and charging; receives patients into department; maintains all equipment in proper working order; performs typing and filing when required; maintains adequate inventory of supplies; provides training for new employees; prepares monthly report; performs other clerical functions as needed. Scores sleep studies. Communicates test information and results to physician, nurses, and physician offices. Works with DMEs to provide for a smooth transition to C-pap or Bipap therapy. Participates in & promotes continuing education for sleep.

JOB DUTIES – 1) Performs basic and complex studies (sleep studies, MSLT studies, ). 2) 3) Operates pulse oximetry equipment. 4) Able to troubleshoot equipment. 5) Manages paper work. 6) Consistently follows hospital and department policies and procedures 7) Scores sleep studies. 8) Assists with Quality Improvement. 9) Assists physician with sleep clinic.

QUALIFICATIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITY –

The technician performing the service must meet one of the following:

American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM),

Registered Sleep Technologist (RST);

Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT),

Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT);

National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)

Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT)

Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT)

Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)

Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

In addition to completion of 12th grade (high school) or higher and BLS required. Must have verbal and visual acuity. Must frequently work under pressure. Must follow instructions explicitly as not to compromise patient care. Basic understanding of medical terminology. Ability to get along with others; must adhere to medical ethics and have concern for the welfare of the patient, department and institution. Performance appraisals are conducted at the end of a three-month probationary period by the Director or Supervisor; evaluations, thereafter, are given on a yearly basis. Trained yearly on all populations served and completes competencies for patients identified within the department scope of service. Supervised by the Neurodiagnostics/Sleep Lab Supervisor.
