Job Description

CERTIFIED HAND THERAPIST

The purpose of this job/position is to function as a member of the Rehabilitation Services patient care team by providing occupational therapy OR physical therapy services such as ADL training, energy conservation, splint fabrication, exercise, sensory integration and perceptual/cognitive training to assist patients in improving their function in work, leisure and self-care. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate degree in Occupational or Physical Therapy; AND
  • 3 years of experience in occupational or physical therapy with a minimum of 4,000 hours of direct practice and experience in hand therapy
  • Certified Hand Therapist (CHT); AND
  • Current State of Oregon Occupational Therapist or Physical Therapist license; AND
  • Current American Heart BLS CPR certification required upon hire
  • Requires the ability to develop a comprehensive, progressive treatment strategy focused on functional success in acute, community and home settings
  • Excellent communication skills, high degree of courtesy, discretion and respect for patients and fellow employees, leadership ability demonstrated by role modeling, professional demeanor, excellent organizational skills, strong triage skills
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs., to repeatedly carry equipment weighing move than 5lbs., and to walk extensively on hard and soft surfaces
  • Frequent bending and reaching to navigate medical equipment or perform treatment is required
  • Requires the ability to respond quickly and appropriately to urgent medical situations that may arise with high risk or medically complex patient populations
  • Able to use keyboard and mouse frequently for documentation and communications
  • Will include travel between clinics, CHH1 and CHH2
  • This is in a busy clinic setting
  • Able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
