Location: 628th Medical Group/SGSL, Charleston AFB, SC

Work Schedule: The performance hours of the Outpatient Medical Clinic are 0730-1630 Monday
thru Friday.

Qualifications:

Degree/Education (5.2.4): A Masters, or Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy from a Physical
Therapy program acceptable to the USAF Surgeon General and accredited by the American Physical
Therapy Association (APTA) Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education
• Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support (5.2.3): None.
• Experience: Have at least 24 months of experience within the past 36 months as a physical therapist.
• Board Certification (5.2.6.4.4): See exhibit 5.
• Licensure/Registration: See exhibit 5.

HCW Duties: See exhibit 5 and below for HCW duties:
5.2.1 Perform a full range of physical therapist services in accordance with the scope of clinical privileges
granted by the MTF.
5.2.2 Provide appropriate therapeutic procedures and provide a full range of therapy services in support of
patient referrals.
5.2.3 All patient contact and care shall be safe, timely, result in achievement of realistic and documented
treatment goals, and comply with or satisfy the intent of the referring medical staff.
5.2.4 Test and measure the patient's strength, motor development, sensory perception, functional capacity,
and/or respiratory and circulatory efficiency. Record findings to develop or revise treatment programs.
5.2.5 Plan and prepare written treatment programs based on an evaluation of the patient.
5.2.6 Administer manual exercises to improve and maintain function.
5.2.7 Instruct, motivate, and assist patients in performing various physical activities, such as non-manual
exercises, ambulatory functional activities, daily-living activities, and in use of assistive and supportive devices,
such as crutches, canes, and prostheses.
5.2.8 Administer treatments involving application of physical agents, using equipment such as a pulsed lavage
unit and/or whirlpool bath, moist packs, ultraviolet and infrared lamps, and ultrasound machines. Evaluate
effects of treatment at various stages and adjust treatments to achieve maximum benefit.
5.2.9 Administer soft tissue mobilization, applying knowledge of mobilization techniques and body physiology.
5.2.10 Administer traction to relieve pain, using traction equipment.
5.2.11 Record treatment, response, and progress in patient's chart and/or automated systems.
5.2.12 Instruct patient and family in treatment procedures to be continued at home.
5.2.13 Evaluate, fit, and adjust prosthetic and orthotic devices and recommend modification as required.
5.2.14 Coordinate treatment with physician and other staff members to obtain additional patient information,
suggest revisions in treatment program and integrate physical therapy treatment with other aspects of the
patient's health care. Contact referring physicians regarding patient care concerns, as required.
5.2.15 Provide documented treatment and discharge recommendations to members of the staff in routine,
emergency, and special cases as needed.
5.2.16 Provide input and attend rehabilitation team meetings, seminars, and quality assurance meetings.
5.2.17 Participate in peer review activities.
5.2.18 Provide clinical supervision to assistants, technicians, aides, and students.
