Job Description

  • The Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapist shall provide musculoskeletal performance optimization of 212 RQS operators

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain proper musculoskeletal function and performance of 212 RQS operators through soft tissue manipulation.
  • Provide Preservation of the Force and Family (POTFF) Services services for 212 RQS operators within the OMPT’s scope of

practice.

  • Serve as an advisor to the unit POTFF Manager in matters related to injury
  • prevention, sports medicine and rehabilitation.
  • Serve as an advisor to the unit POTFF Manager for administrative matters,

purchasing of supplies and equipment and supplemental fiscal requests.

  • Provide input for the development and utilization of relevant data collection

strategies.

  • Assist the unit POTFF Manager in developing and updating criteria-based job

descriptions and performance standards.

  • Develop and promulgate training opportunities for the POTFF staff to enhance

career development, potential for advancement and to further professional expertise.

  • Ensure safe and effective operation of equipment used and contribute to a safe

working environment.

  • Design and fabricate protective pads, equipment and braces to help prevent

and treat injuries; including the use of taping techniques within the ATC’s scope of

practice.

  • Provide instruction and guidance to help prevent injury and to maximize the

operators’ physical conditioning and performance.

  • Participate in the collection and reporting of workload data as requested by the

unit POTFF program manager.

Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from an accredited college or university
  • Master’s degree Preferred
  • Be National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) certified
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with elite level athletes within the SOF community, NCAA, or professional sports.
  • Have additional credentials as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) or as a certified Sports Performance Coach through the United States of America Weightlifting Association (USAWA) Preferred
  • Possess a Basic Life Support certification

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Capable of meeting physical demands of training with SOF including the ability

to hike over rough terrain and function in austere environments to observe SOF training evolutions.

  • Ability to assist with strength and conditioning testing and training protocols.
  • Ability to lift and manipulate loads or weights up to 50 pounds
  • Demonstrated history of performing techniques to include: orthopedic assessment and manual therapy, trigger point dry needling, soft tissue mobilization, myofascial techniques, sports massage, muscle energy techniques and functional taping.

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee may use repeated motions that include the arms, wrists, hands and/or fingers. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
