(Archived) Regional Phlebotomist and Educator
Job Description
Overview
The Regional Phlebotomist and Educator provides education to and counsels inmates via participation in the inmate education programs, voluntary pre-test and post-test counseling, and testing. Interacts with nursing and medical staff, security staff, administrative staff, and support staff at all levels, seeking the advice of and channeling information through sight based ID Case Managers. In addition the Regional Phlebotomist and Educator will perform as a backup across the designated region to assist in backlogs, phlebotomist vacancies, and any leave of absence.
Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Requires documented successful completion of a Phlebotomy course.
Experience:
- Five (5) or more years of phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Teaching or presenting in group settings preferred
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
- Current CPR Certification.
Responsibilities
- Provides information to inmates during initial orientation regarding HIV/HCV/Syphilis testing services available
- Regional Phlebotomist and Educator provides individual pre and post test counseling of inmates who have requested testing.
- Collects blood samples for HIV/HCV/Syphilis testing, employing DPH form system.
- Provides referrals to ID Case Manager of new diagnosis
- Maintains accurate records and ensures confidentiality
