Job Description

Full-time Phlebotomy Supervisor needed at a top hospital in Central Georgia

This is a night shift position supervising around 25 people.

Job Summary: The supervisor serves to maintain the integrity of day-to day operations through focused oversight of laboratory procedures with a high accountability for problem solving for the entire department and meeting regulatory requirements in the assigned area of responsibility. The supervisor is assigned to non-business hours of operation: evenings, nights, weekends. Has direct supervisory responsibilities at all times and general supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Clinical Laboratory Administrative Director and/or Core Lab Manager. Interacts with other sections of the Laboratory, Pathologist on Call, hospital staff, physicians, outside clients, service technicians, other hospitals, law enforcement, funeral home staff, and the public to maintain continuity of service 24/7. Responsible for daily operations of assigned shift including scheduling, resolving technical issues and general work flow. Interfaces with Core Lab Manager to implement and monitor all responses to internal and external complaints. Must demonstrate sound judgment and rounded knowledge to address unusual situations. Works closely with and provides feedback to the Lead Medical Technologist to ensure quality test reporting and staff competency 24/7.

Qualifications:
- Baccalaureate degree from accredited college or university to include minimum of 30 quarter hours lecture and lab courses in chemical, physical and/or biological science, including at least 15 quarter hours of chemistry, 10 quarter hours of biology, and 5 quarter hours of math.
- 2 years in clinical lab in similar discipline.
- Certification as a Medical Technologist by the Board of Registry of ASCP, AMT, NCA ISCLT, or HHS is required.
