We are seeking perfusionist for – Transplant | ECMO in the Long Island, NY area.

An elite academic medical center in Long Island is seeking an experienced Clinical Perfusionist to join a nationally recognized team supporting high-acuity transplant and cardiac procedures. This position offers an opportunity to be part of one of the largest and most progressive perfusion programs in the Northeast, known for its cutting-edge technology, clinical excellence, and strong interdisciplinary collaboration.

Position Highlights:

  • Work alongside a team of skilled cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists, and fellow perfusionists in a state-of-the-art surgical suite.
  • Be part of a program performing hundreds of complex adult and pediatric cases annually, including transplant, ECMO, and mechanical circulatory support.
  • Access to advanced perfusion technologies and equipment supporting both routine and high-risk procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and manage the heart-lung machine and extracorporeal circulation equipment during open-heart and transplant procedures.
  • Assemble, prime, test, and maintain perfusion circuits prior to bypass initiation.
  • Adjust perfusion parameters based on patient physiology throughout procedures.
  • Administer medications, blood components, and anesthetic agents via the extracorporeal circuit.
  • Perform advanced blood therapies including PRP, platelet gel, hemofiltration, and autotransfusion.
  • Monitor and observe equipment operation, obtain intraoperative blood samples, and ensure all safety and quality standards are upheld.
  • Disassemble and clean perfusion equipment post-procedure.
  • Maintain adequate inventory and supplies in coordination with internal departments.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Must have : ABCP Certification and New York State Licensure required.
  • 1–3 years of clinical perfusion experience, ideally with transplant and ECMO exposure.
  • Strong clinical judgment and the ability to adapt in dynamic, high-pressure environments.
  • Must be : Flexible with scheduling to accommodate surgical needs.
