Job Description

Job Summary

We are looking for individuals to join our client’s team as Pathology Assistant. You will be working under the direction and supervision of a licensed physician who practices anatomic pathology, processes, and documents specimens. Collects and prepares samples for pathology analysis. Conducts tissue and fluid examination, as needed. Assists with conducting postmortem examinations. Responsible for the organization of the laboratory and the provision of effective pathological service. Ensures optimal utilization of resources and compliance with the operating standards of various health care governing and accrediting bodies, resulting in improved patient experience and outcomes.

Skills Required

  • Performs inventory.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by following all infection control policies, biosafety plan, and hazardous waste polices.
  • Files all tissue blocks and finalized slides.
  • Participates in Laboratory in-service and continuing education as well as mandatory hospital in services and training.
  • Promotes a positive work image through productive and professional interaction with patients and other hospital personnel.

Education/Training/Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Pathologists’ Assistant issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED).
