Job Title: Pathologist Assistant

Summary:

• Perform human specimen examination for diagnosis and patient treatment
• Assist pathologists in dissection, evisceration, description, and histologic sampling of surgical specimens
• Supervise and train resident physicians and fellows in pathology
• Interact with internal staff and external physicians and facilities
• Utilize Anatomic Pathology information system and Electronic Medical Record for reporting results

Responsibilities:

• Independently perform or assist in surgical specimen dissection, evisceration, description, and histologic sampling
• Supervise and train entry level resident physicians and fellows in pathology
• Coordinate workflow to meet patient care requirements and ensure timely test results
• Interact with staff pathologists, technologists, and external physicians and facilities
• Utilize Anatomic Pathology information system and Electronic Medical Record for result reporting and quality assurance data collection

Qualifications:

Education:

Required: Bachelor’s degree

Preferred: Graduate of NAACLS accredited Pathologist’s Assistant Training Program; Master’s degree or higher

Licensure/Certification:

Required: American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) board Pathologists' Assistant Certification within one (1) year of hire

Experience:

Preferred: Pathologists’ Assistant experience
