Paramedic/EMT

Location: Minot AFB, North Dakota

Work Schedule: The performance hours of the MTF are as follows:
The performance hours of the MTF are as follows: The contractor shall not exceed 48 hours on shift or have less than 96 hours off shift. Paramedics will be required to cover shifts 24/7, 365 days a year. The company is required to provide a Paramedic on every shift. Shifts tentatively run 0700-0700; company must ensure coverage everyday throughout the year. MTF may require a shift in scheduled hours for winter weather conditions and/or to accommodate local policies and Air Force AFI requirements.

Qualifications:

• Degree/Education (5.2.4): Possess and maintain certification as an NREMT, NREMT-P from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT-P) or applicable state EMT-P certification, PHLTS, ACLS, PALS
• Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support (5.2.3): Possess and maintain certification as an NREMT, NREMT-P from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) or applicable state EMT certification. ACLS, PALS, PHTLS.
• Experience: One year of experience as an EMT, NREMT, or NREMT-P after graduation. ACLS and PALS
• Board Certification (5.2.6.4.4): None
• Licensure/Registration: State ND License, See Exhibit 5

HCW Duties (5.1 Task 1): The duties for the HCW are as follows:
• Responsible for creating, maintaining, and disposing of medical documentation as required.
• Performs a full range of emergency room support and ambulance services on site at the MTF and in the field when performing ambulance emergency or in-flight response, transfer, or transport services. The EMT-P will practice within the guidelines set by the NCOIC, Nurse Manager and the Medical Director. Provides emergency hospital and pre-hospital care for all types of patients (all ages).
• Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for patients of all ages.
Workload includes the evaluation and treatment of emergent, urgent, and non-emergent patients ranging from infants to elderly.
• Assisted by medical technicians, the candidate will be fully integrated into the nursing team, responsible for direct patient care.
• Recognizes medical emergencies and responds appropriately.
• Initiates CPR if required. Assists emergency personnel in administering advanced cardiac life support measures when necessary.
• Participates in in-services and continuing education programs.
• Must comply with licensing requirements of the State and local motor vehicle laws and shall be certified, by the Contractor and at the Contractor’s expense, as being fully qualified to operate the vehicles/equipment to which they are assigned in accordance with AFI 24-301, VEHICLE OPERATIONS, Section 8E, Licensing for Federal Civilian Employees, Contractor Personnel, and Federal Prison Camp Inmates, and paragraph 8.10, Licensing Contractor Personnel.
• Must disinfect, restock, and prepare ambulances for immediate medical response to include during daily/monthly inspections.
• Assist in lifting and carrying patients out of the ambulance and into emergency treatment facility.
Additional Criteria:
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) ACLS, PHTLS certification is required at time of hire and must be satisfactorily maintained during employment.
• Current & valid paramedic license in the state of North Dakota at the time of hire; licensure must be maintained during employment.
• Paramedics are considered mission essential personnel and are required to report to work if directed during inclement weather regardless of MAFB closures. When staff travel is not permitted due to weather the paramedic will hold their shift until gaining paramedic arrives.
• When not on Emergency calls or patient transports, paramedics will be required to work in the MTF or Ambulance Services. Paramedics will provide support and patient care within their scope of practice and treatment protocols applicable in Ambulance Services and in accordance with the extent of paramedic training and experience.
• Paramedics will receive a Common Access Card for computer access in the MTF. This will allow access to medical systems for updating patient encounters as needed.
• Paramedics will obtain proper flight line credentials and Government driver’s license.
• Paramedics will submit time off requests NLT 30 days prior to requested time off.
• Paramedics will be required to participate in MDG and Base exercises.
• Civilian contractors must be neatly groomed. Employee must maintain a professional appearance at all times.
• Uniforms: Civilian contractor primary duty uniform is the following; black, navy or white polo shirts and/ or long sleeve t-shirts in the same color (small EMS/Paramedic logos with wording on logo Minot specific is acceptable). Cargo pants will be in navy blue or black color. Boots will be black safety boots/shoes in accordance with American National Standards Institute Z41.1-1991. A navy blue pull over a sweatshirt or a navy blue EMS coat may be used during cold weather (EMS coat must meet current OSHA safety standards for outer wear garments). Reflective wear on any part of the uniform is acceptable. All uniform items are purchased by contract holder. Uniforms must be in good condition and replacement items are at contract holder’s expense. Uniform violations will be reported to the contract holder.
