(Archived) Emergency Medical Technician
Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) works under the direction and supervision of the EMS/MedEvac Operations Manager and is responsible for providing safe, comprehensive care to critically ill and/or injured patients of all ages. Care is provided in the pre-hospital setting and during inter-facility transports by understanding and applying the specialized principles and techniques of transport practice, emergency procedures and diagnostics.
EDUCATION
- Knowledge of emergent patient care standards and practices normally acquired through completion of a high school diploma
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of two years' pre-hospital EMS experience required
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Possesses an active Wisconsin EMT license for Wisconsin bases
- Possesses an active Michigan EMT license for Michigan bases
- Dual Wisconsin & Michigan EMT licensure required within 120 days of hire
- Current CPR certification or obtained within 90 days of hire
- Valid Wisconsin Driver's License required for Wisconsin bases
- Valid Michigan Driver's License required for Michigan bases
OTHER SKILLS/EXPECTATIONS
- Current EMT National Registry licensure preferred
- Basic computer skills and medical terminology beneficial
- Emergency Vehicle Operating Certification (EVOC) or Certified Emergency Vehicle Operations (CEVO) training
- Competencies specific to MedEvac must be completed upon hire and annually
- Must maintain CPR and all certifications as stated in the MedEvac Scope of Service
