Position Overview:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Paramedic to support the Interfacility Transport Team and Transfer Center at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. The ideal candidate will provide high-level pre-hospital and interfacility care to critically ill surgical, medical, and pediatric patients, utilizing advanced skills and continuous patient monitoring.

Schedule

Paramedics will be assigned to rotating shifts on the Interfacility Transport Team and Transfer Center. Shifts may include:

• 8-hour, 10-hour, or 12-hour schedules

• Day, evening, or night shifts

• Rotational assignments as mission requires

Qualifications

Education:

• Graduate of an accredited NREMT program.

Experience:

• Minimum of 12 months of experience as a Nationally Registered Paramedic (NR-P) following graduation.

Certifications:

• Current Nationally Registered Paramedic (NRP) certification through NREMT or State of Virginia Paramedic certification.

• Current AHA or ARC Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification for Healthcare Providers.

• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification for Healthcare Providers.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Paramedic shall:

• Deliver a full range of emergency medical services within the facility and assigned geographical area.

• Provide specialized care using advanced critical care skills and intensive monitoring techniques.

• Assess, manage, and transport critically ill patients, including surgical, medical, and pediatric cases.

• Maintain accurate patient documentation and uphold all standards of care.

• Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary medical teams to support safe and efficient patient transfers.
