(Archived) Prosthetics Technician

Job Description

The Prosthetics Technician shall fabricate, maintain, and repair artificial limbs, carbon, silicone, plastic appliances, and other prosthetic/orthotic devices, based from the physician’s prescription and a treatment plan based upon the Prosthetist’s assessment of the prescription’s prosthetic device requirement for the patient; and will as a minimum include; specification & selection, device design, fabrication, assembly, test, mounting, adjustment(s) and alignments as needed for the delivery of prosthetic devices.

  • High School Degree or GED
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience, as a Prosthetics Technician in a hospital or clinical setting

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Possess time management skills
  • Skilled at operating machinery including power tools, mills, lathes, and welders while maintaining a high level of hand-eye coordination.
  • Knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in the use of basic word processing, data entry.
  • Ability to act on all prosthetic medical orders in a timely manner explain how to use and maintain the device.
  • Possess basic math skills

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee may use repeated motions that include the arms, wrists, hands and/or fingers. The employee is occasionally required to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
