⏳ Contract Length: 26 Weeks (6 Months)
🕒 Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Practice Setting

• Outpatient Hospital Setting

• Full-time coverage needed (5 shifts/week)

• Average patient volume: 12–14 patients per day

• 30-minute appointment slots

• First patient at 8:00 AM, last patient at 4:30 PM

Patient Population

• Primarily pediatric patients

• Some adult patients with developmental delays and double vision (not mandatory for locum to see adults)

• Department treats both bread-and-butter and high-acuity pediatric optometry cases

• Experience working with neurodiverse and spectrum patients strongly preferred

Department Highlights

• Collaborative team environment with ophthalmologists, optometrists, and dedicated tech support

• Techs perform diagnostic imaging and testing

• Facility equipped with all necessary imaging devices

• Many patients are co-managed with pediatric specialties including neurology and craniofacial teams

Preferred Experience & Skills

• Pediatric optometry experience required

• Strong experience with strabismus/binocular vision exams

• Experience treating complex pediatric populations in a medical center setting

• Contact lens fitting experience preferred, including complex pediatric fittings

Requirements

• Doctor of Optometry (OD) required

• Pediatric Optometry Residency highly preferred

• If no pediatric residency, provider must have at least 3 years of pediatric experience in a medical center setting

• Active California License Required

• BLS Required

📋 Credentialing Timeframe: 60–90 Days
